Life in Maseru

On our way to survey the one meetinghouse in Lesotho we passed a number of women doing laundry. Some clothes were drying on lines and others laid in the sunshine.

Styles of clothes range from traditional to urban, as seen in the last three photos.

In the fifth photo with the two women standing in front of a billboard, notice the pink tub of live chickens the woman is carrying on her head. Clothing is practical and much is traditional. The two men are herders with blankets wrapped around themselves, wearing felt hats and boots.

Street merchants sell their goods from stands made of boards or tin, small tables under umbrellas (such as the woman wearing an apron roasting corn), or in open air alongside the road (mechanics and produce salesmen).

The streets are teeming with vehicles, individuals and families in motion.
