Lesotho is a high elevation kingdom country surrounded by South Africa. Ron and I made the five hour drive south from Johannesburg to explore its mountain countryside 3-5 February 2011.
A few things are very striking about Lesotho--its magnificent mountain passes and panoramic views, trademark shaped straw hats worn by women and men, pastoral lifestyle, and herders caring for their small groups of long haired goats, sheep and cattle. Our visit during the summer found the countryside lush and green.
The final photo is of three young women we asked to photograph from our car and their gleeful responses as we chatted with them.
